The complete package

The difference you’ll make by being part of FirstGroup can never be underestimated. By encouraging and developing public transport, you’ll play your part in improving social inclusion and reducing traffic congestion. If you think about it, you’re helping to provide a solution for high-profile concerns like global warming and world-wide climate change. And that feels good.

The financial and professional benefits feel pretty good too...

Salary
Join us as a general manager or an engineering trainee, and you’ll receive a starting salary of £25,000. This is extremely competitive in the market, plus you’ll also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, detailed below.

Share Scheme
After a short qualifying period, you’ll be able to join the First share schemes and have a stake in the success of the company. There are two schemes - BAYE (Buy As You Earn), and SAYE (Save As You Earn). The schemes are continually updated, and run on a periodic basis.

Free & Reduced-Cost Travel
All our employees enjoy free travel on either First Bus or Rail Networks. On top of that, your family and friends can benefit from heavily discounted fares and offers across our bus and train network.

Pension Scheme
We provide our people with a number of industry-leading pension schemes. Different divisions have different schemes, but we’ll work with you to find a scheme that’s right for you.

Training
Your comprehensive on and off-the-job training, your postgraduate or professional qualification, plus your programme of continuous development will all be funded by the company.

Fresh challenges
What’s more, as a member of the Bus division, you’ll also have a multi-level mentoring programme for the first five years of your service. You’ll also be able to move through different types of First operating companies throughout your career.
